Today AT&T released pricing info for the new iPhone 3G set to hit the market on July 11. As you will find out, owning a new iPhone 3G will be a lot more costly then the previous model. The unlimited data plan is up $10 from $20 to $30 and you will also have to pay extra for text messaging since it will not be included in any of the iPhone 3G service bundles, so your looking at an additional $5-$20 for a text package.
It's gonna cost more to own an iPhone 3G, but at least we don't live in Canada; Canuck's freaking over Roger's iPhone Rates. $60 Canadian for 150 weekday minutes and 400 megabytes of data use...OUCH!
I'm very much interested in 3G mobile technology and the iPhone is definitely a cool phone, but looks like I'm sticking to my trusty BlackBerry for a while longer. When does the BlackBerry 9000 Bold come out???
Excellent site for wine reviews without all the " snobbery"; TV.WineLibrary.com
The site is published by wine empresario Gary Vaynerchuk, who takes an " gonzo - unpretentious" approach to wine appreciation. We recently heard Gary speak at the recent SEED Conference in Chicago a few weeks ago and the guy is intense!
One of my all-time favorite websites is paulgraham.com, which is published by LISP programmer, venture capitalist, and essayist Paul Graham (not the photographer). Paul and a partner were the founders and developers of ViaWeb.com, one of the first ASPs (application service providers) that allowed users to build their own online stores. Eventually ViaWeb.com was acquired by Yahoo! and their platform became the foundation to Yahoo! Stores.
Since then, Paul has published many intriguing essays on entrepreneurial topics (which are on his website) and started an early seed venture capitalist company call Y Combinator, which has funded such start-ups as reddit, justin.tv, and loopt.
Here is a speech by Paul at Start-up School '08, " How to Create a Successful Start-up"
The 2008 Geo Domain Expo will be held in Chicago this summer. We have never attended any of their previous events, but their focus on geo-targeted marketing and online local advertising is very much a major interest here at Empresario. Local advertising is a major growth area for online marketing, as more and more small/medium businesses are becoming comfortable with moving their ad dollars to the internet. We have several hundred geo-domains in our portfolio, which we have been planning to develop. So we are definitely looking forward to this event for some ideas.
Besides such an interesting event, it is also a great time of the season to visit Chicago. Shopping on the Magnificent Mile, White Sox or Cubs Game, a stroll through Millennium Park, or just having lunch or dinner " al fresco".... there is definitely nothing like Summer-Time Chi :)
Empresario is a multi-faceted company that specializes in website publishing, and domain investments.
Empresario currently owns thousands of domain names, and also publishes a diverse range of sites that cover everything from US immigration policy, to popular culture.
We are based in downtown Chicago, but thanks to the World Wide Web we conduct business all over the globe.
