Verisign (global registry operator for .com and .net) just released their quarterly " Domain Industry Brief", which reviews the current state of the domain name industry by highlighting the latest statistical, media, and business trends.

Top Highlights:

1. Domain registrations grew 26% year over year and 6% quarter over quarter
2. Registrants registered more then 14 million new domains in the first quarter of 2008
3. India is emerging as an increasingly important country for domains
